Tru Earth’s 2024 ESG Impact Report Reinforces Commitment to Planet, People, and Purpose

Vancouver, BC – December 31st, 2024 Tru Earth, an award-winning, B Corp Certified leader in household cleaning products, today released its 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Impact Report, reflecting a landmark year in sustainability, community impact, and corporate responsibility. This report covers the significant strides Tru Earth made from June 1 to December 31, 2024. Tru Earth will not be releasing a formal impact report for this period, as it marks the completion of a STUB financial year — a strategic move to align their business year with the calendar year, ensuring greater transparency and consistency in our reporting moving forward.

Guided by its “Critical Cause” — to make true, lasting change that helps care for your future, Tru Earth reports major progress across its three social KPIs: the number of eco-strips donated, plastic jugs saved, and non-profit partners supported.

Key 2024 Achievements

  • 52,461,114 eco-strips donated to non-profit organizations globally — valued at $24.2 million CAD retail.

  • 189,786,311 plastic jugs were saved from ending up in landfills and oceans through Tru Earth’s plastic-jug free product design.

  • 4,480 non-profit partners engaged, supporting a wide range of causes including hygiene poverty, food security, shelter access, education, and environmental conservation.

“These results demonstrate how a values-driven organization can simultaneously protect the environment, uplift communities, and deliver business success,” said Anita Spiller, VP of ESG at Tru Earth. “This year’s impact reflects our commitment to the triple bottom line — people, planet, and profit — and we’re just getting started.”

Advancing Carbon Accountability: New Tools for Measuring Emissions

In 2024, Tru Earth took critical steps toward more accurate and comprehensive carbon emissions tracking. While the company is still in the process of calculating its Scope 1, 2, and 3 CO₂ emissions for the reporting period, it has adopted Carbonhound, a next-generation carbon accounting software that will provide greater transparency and actionable insights moving forward.

Tru Earth will release its full emissions data for both 2024 and 2025 in March 2026, alongside the company’s organization’s comprehensive 2025 ESG Impact Report. This timeline ensures Tru Earth can apply its updated methodology consistently and align its emissions disclosures with evolving global standards.

Environmental Action: From Shorelines to Supply Chains

Tru Earth doubled down on environmental initiatives in 2024. As the founding sponsors of the American Shoreline Cleanup Program by Ocean Wise, Tru Earth expanded from 7 cleanups in 2023 to 51 in 2024, mobilizing local communities to remove harmful waste. The company aims to clean 50 more beaches in 2025, with 200+ cleanups planned across North America.

In its facilities, Tru Earth achieved a 96.8% waste diversion rate at its British Columbia site. Although Ontario’s diversion rate dropped to 72.3%, Tru Earth is actively resolving this with new waste partnerships and an investigation into operational gaps.

Internal Culture & Community: Living the Mission

The company advanced employee engagement and DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging) through incentives and leadership programs. Its Critical Cause Champions (CCC) team led wellness initiatives, volunteer programs, and environmental education sessions with Ocean Wise. Meanwhile, DEIB programs hosted Truth & Reconciliation discussions and developed executive-level accountability policies.

Digital Security & Governance

Tru Earth took significant steps in data privacy and cybersecurity, achieving GDPR compliance, appointing a Director of Technology, and implementing phishing simulations and platform upgrades. Its 2025 roadmap includes annual employee security training and further fortification of its digital infrastructure.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As it scales its impact, Tru Earth’s 2025 ESG goals include:

  • Donating 15 million eco-strips globally

  • Recertifying as a B Corp so we can continue to meet the highest business standards

  • Maintaining carbon-neutral North American distribution

  • Expanding shoreline cleanups across the U.S.

  • Advancing Scope 3 sustainability reporting across its supply chain

“Our sustainability strategy isn’t a side project—it’s the foundation of our business,” added Anita Spiller. “We believe in a future where every organization is accountable for its environmental and social footprint.”
